Wave-A-Thon to Raise Funds for Vulnerable Children in Panama and Nicaragua

Unity 4 Orphans expands holistic programs to support poor and vulnerable children through education and nutrition in Panama and Nicaragua, where 30% of children live in poverty.

Our upcoming Wave-A-Thon, now in its 4th year, has a solid track record of raising money to help children affected by poverty and often abandonment and abuse. In 2021, we met our goal and raised $30k to purchase new ESL curriculum and enhance support for our students in Nicaragua. After a year of solid growth, in 2022 we raised over $50k to help kids in Nicaragua, Mexico, and San Diego, as well as launch programs in Ecuador.

Schools in Panama were closed for 21 months during the pandemic and many students have fallen so far behind that they’re unable to meet educational benchmarks. When Joe Brandi recently visited Panama he met with a local organization that is helping some of the country’s poorest children.

Unity 4 Orphans is partnering with this team of local Panamanians dedicated to providing resources to orphaned and vulnerable children, starting with education and nutrition.

[We’re raising funds] so 250 of these kids can receive two meals a day and get an education.

Fundraiser Proceeds Will Provide Nutrition to Children in Nicaragua

People waiting in line to receive food

Our well-established ESL program in Miramar, Nicaragua has been helping vulnerable children through education and counseling for many years. Now, through a new partnership in Masaya, we are joining forces to provide desperately needed nutrition to children and their families through a feeding program.

Without proper nutrition, education and counseling will not be successful. The opportunity to break the cycle of poverty doesn’t exist until these precious children receive consistent nourishment.

–Caitlin Snyder, Engagement Director

In a country vulnerable to food insecurity, up to a third of children suffer from chronic malnourishment in certain regions of Nicaragua. We’ll be sharing more about the amazing team tirelessly working to feed starving children and their families who live in an actual garbage dump. We humbly ask you to join hands and hearts as we strive to raise the quality of life for kids living in abject poverty.
