Unity 4 Orphans welcomes three new board members dedicated to helping vulnerable children throughout Latin America break cycles of abandonment, abuse, and generational poverty.
We’re excited to introduce three amazing individuals who have joined our team and share our vision for the children we serve! As U4O continues to experience rapid growth in our programs, the need for increased awareness, cohesive planning, and funding also expands.
U4O Board Members Help Guide the Future of Our Nonprofit
Board Member Arlette Vargas-Ali was introduced to U4O nearly nine years ago and felt a connection to our passion for serving abandoned and abused children. She believes in the importance of the work we do to uplift vulnerable children and lead them to stories of healing and redemption.
It’s my joy to help catalyze exponential growth for the organization’s next chapter of further outreach and measurable impact.
–Arlette Vargas-Ali, Board Member
Arlette is also motivated by her husband and two sons, and her family enjoys meals together and being active through sporting events. They inspire her to use her voice to speak up for the children we serve and advocate for resources on their behalf.
Advisory Board Members Support Our Vision for Vulnerable Children
Mikhanh Pham was introduced to Unity 4 Orphans by Arlette and has always supported mission work and attended mission trips through her church. She feels a connection to our calling to raise awareness and bring more help to orphaned and abandoned children. Mother Teresa’s statement, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone,” inspires her to come alongside our mission.
Jesus implores us to care for the least, the forgotten members of society. When we do, we are in effect showing love to the King himself. The work we do at U4O is the highest form of worship.
–Mikhanh Pham, Advisory Board Member
Mikhanh is passionate about doing what she can to help alleviate the orphan crisis and is devoted to her faith and her family. She enjoys the beach, good food, and travel, having visited over 35 countries so far. Her heart for vulnerable children is a great asset to our Advisory Board!
Longtime Supporters Are Excited to Serve on the U4O Board
Over ten years ago Zack Meyer and his wife Stephany were introduced to Unity 4 Orphans through visiting orphanages in Tijuana, Mexico. They were drawn to the heart of the organization to serve children across the border. As they built their own family and several businesses their schedule grew fuller, but they continued to be faithful in contributing as U4O grew in mission and scope.
I’ve seen U4O grow from serving a few orphanages in Tijuana to 29 sites across Latin America and I know God has been using the organization to make an impact in the lives of the children and families at each site. I am honored to play even the smallest role.
–Zack Meyer, Advisory Board Member
The Meyer family, including their son and daughter, believes in what U4O is doing, offering counseling, education, and nutrition. They are active San Diegans raising their children to give back, their son Elijah being one of our youngest-ever surfers in a past Wave-A-Thon!
We’re blessed to have Arlette, Mikhanh, and Zack join us during this incredible time in our fourteen-year history. Our ability to help vulnerable children in five countries throughout Latin America and expand to more locations is limited only by our resources. Thanks to a dedicated and refreshed board, we know our shared goals are within reach!
