Unity 4 Orphans held the 5th Annual Wave-A-Thon and Beach Bash to benefit the vulnerable children supported by our holistic programs throughout Latin America.
On Saturday, September 28, team members, surfers, and sponsors gathered in Pacific Beach for our annual fundraising event that embodies the San Diego spirit. We enjoyed a day of fun in the sun, including perfect weather and a delicious lunch from El Taco Spot, a local taco truck!
U4O Special Events Raise Funds and Unify Supporters
As the sun peeked through the morning beach layer the waves rolled in consistent sets and surfers hit the water for an awesome cause. This year has brought many changes, but the needs of the children we serve remain the same.
It’s been amazing to see so many surfers and beach lovers in our community come back year after year to support U4O. Seeing both regular and new supporters spend their day riding waves to raise funds for children in need made it such a heartwarming day!

The Wave-A-Thon is one of the most fun ways we raise money to help maintain our support of kids who need it most. Each year provides an opportunity to help more children through counseling, tutoring, ESL curriculum, nutrition, and school supplies.
San Diego Surfers Show Their Support for Unity 4 Orphans
Thanks to local surfers and sponsors the event was successful and provided the perfect day to close out summer and get ready for giving season. With more children being supported by our programs than ever before, this year we’ll focus on individual stories of kids experiencing transformation in their lives.
Our family loves to support U4O because we believe in the mission to empower vulnerable children and provide them with love and dignity.

In 2024 we’ve added 2 in-country partners in 10 new sites, with increased focus on uniting our incredible multi-national team. These efforts are building and reinforcing a partner network that enables us to reach children affected by poverty, broken families, abuse, violence in their neighborhoods, and lack of sufficient education.
Vulnerable Children in Latin America Need Our Help
We’re blessed that our community shares our vision for education and holistic care for over 1,600 children enrolled in our programs. Our partners in Mexico, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and El Salvador work tirelessly to help children build their confidence and break the cycle of poverty. Events like the Wave-A-Thon help us continue this vital work and welcome more children into our programs.
I’m grateful that people care about the kids. It’s fun to share what’s going on in our programs and any time our team gets together to do that is a privilege. There’s so much need but we’re doing such good work.
–Caitlin Snyder, Executive Director
Thank you to everyone who participated in making this event a success! We look forward to introducing you to the precious children in Latin America whose lives are being changed by your support.
