A 13-year-old San Diego teen puts the FUN in fundraiser with a creative idea he calls “Mullets 4 Orphans” by collecting donations before visiting a local barber.
Last summer, Charlie Wilkinson went on a volunteer trip with his family to visit the children at the orphanage that Unity 4 Orphans supports in Tijuana. Seeing how the other kids live and spending time playing with them inspired him to do something “crazy” to raise money for costs related to their education and counseling.
I thought of getting a mullet because I will do crazy things for Unity 4 Orphans!

Raising Money for Orphans in Mexico
Over the 4th of July weekend, Charlie requested donations from friends and family to sponsor his “Mullets 4 Orphans” initiative and even created a dedicated fundraising page featuring pictures of himself and his long hair.
The uniquely San Diego vibe and kids raising money for less fortunate kids drew in plenty of support, and Charlie had his new mullet styled by Vinny’s Barbershop in La Jolla. We love his spirit of fun and generosity for orphaned children!
