Meet Lauren Salaz

Meet Lauren Salaz, Unity 4 Orphans’ first intern! She is a Mundt Scholarship recipient, which offers a few select San Diego State University students the opportunity to gain intercultural experience, provide assistance to new immigrants, and contribute to our community in San Diego.

A junior at SDSU, Lauren is working towards a major in Comparative International Studies and a minor in Spanish. She discovered U4O through her scholarship and is drawn to our organization because we work with young children who have had difficult lives and provide them with moments of joy and excitement.

I’m looking forward to seeing the big smiles on their faces when we arrive and play games with them, do activities, and just spend time with them.

– Lauren

In addition to her studies, Lauren works at the Women’s Resource Center on the SDSU campus, is a social and political activist, an intersectional feminist, and is an avid Thai food lover. She is a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, which builds confident women of character who make a difference in the world around them.

Lauren is a great fit for U4O’s mission and heart for children living in poverty, and we look forward to seeing her unique talents at work (and play)!
