Did you know that you can donate your birthday to help children living in poverty? With a fresh new year in front of us, this is a great opportunity to help others with minimal effort! Donating your birthday invites friends and family to make a financial gift to the organization of your choice in lieu of purchasing a gift.
What Does it Mean to Donate Your Birthday?
Long-time volunteer and valued media strategist partner, Shannon Fox, says she has made it an annual tradition to “donate” her birthday to Unity 4 Orphans. “It’s a super simple way to let my friends and family know about the organization, and celebrate my birthday with me, no matter where they live.”
Shannon says that the birthday fundraiser is easy to set up on Facebook, and then she shares it on her timeline, as well as other social media channels such as Instagram. Others have also shared their birthday fundraiser directly via text and email with friends and family.
“It’s so easy to set up, it’s a no-brainer. It takes just a couple of minutes and the benefit to the kids is enormous. Every dollar truly does make a difference and supports Unity 4 Orphans in funding their programs to create real, impactful change.”

Birthday Fundraisers Introduce New Supporters to U4O
Shannon has almost always hit her fundraising goal on her birthday and enjoys watching the number on the counter feature grow in the days leading up to and immediately after her special day.
It’s also a great way to share U4O’s mission with friends, family, and acquaintances who may want to spend a day with the kids on a service trip or become involved in what we do for vulnerable children through our various programs.
