Fitness Fundraiser Raises Funds for Kids in Need

Longtime Unity 4 Orphans volunteer, donor, and child sponsor shares why this cause is close to his heart and how he created a unique fundraiser to benefit children living in poverty.

Our community of supporters provides endless inspiration with the ways in which they care for children vulnerable to the cycle of poverty. We’re happy to share the story of one man’s dedication to the children we serve, specifically in Mexico and Nicaragua.

U4O’s Mission Resonates with People Who Want to Help Vulnerable Children

Jason Cook first learned of Unity 4 Orphans’ programs to help kids break the cycle of poverty through education and holistic care when he attended a mastermind class in San Diego several years ago. Our founder Joe Brandi spoke at the event and Jason was moved to get involved.

I love the personalized effort U4O puts into keeping us posted as sponsors. I can actually see who I’m helping and that means a lot. I feel honored to be part of it.

Unique Fundraisers Help Poor Children and Bring Communities Together

As the previous owner of several gyms, Jason now runs Life Warrior Coaching, which focuses on helping women be their healthiest selves. Combining two passions, coaching and helping children, he created a fundraiser to get his clientele involved and shine a light on the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children.

Whatever you do for work, there are always ways to tie it to charity.

Jason launched a 28-day challenge through his online coaching program where women received personalized health consultations based on donations, with all proceeds going to Unity 4 Orphans. He explained why this cause is so important to him and inspired many clients to help marginalized kids while helping themselves get healthier in the process. Together with his community, he raised over $3,000, which goes directly to the children we serve.

Child Sponsorship Helps Kids Break the Cycle of Poverty

As a child sponsor for several years, Jason and his family have already been making a difference in the life of a young girl in Nicaragua named Kelly. Through full sponsorship, she has access to all of the benefits of Unity 4 Orphans’ holistic approach. Kelly was having trouble both at school and home but has since thrived in our program through ESL studies and counseling.

Day Trips to Orphanages in Tijuana Provide Volunteer Opportunities

In addition to fundraising and child sponsorship, Jason and his family have also attended service trips, and traveled across the country to do so! This hands-on experience lets volunteers see firsthand the positive impact they can make by simply giving of their time.

Although they don’t speak Spanish, Jason shares that they had no trouble connecting with the kids at the orphanage. They loved the time they spent playing and interacting, wanted to stay longer, and look forward to returning again to serve together as a family. Jason’s dream is to one day meet Kelly in Nicaragua and looks forward to the day that becomes a possibility.

We’re so thankful for his support, and encourage anyone looking to get involved to choose a route and just jump in. You’ll be glad you did, and the children will welcome you with open arms!
